This past Thursday I was able to practice for about an hour which
I was extremely happy about. I spent the time reviewing the third
movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and focusing on the first
two pages. I remember recording in my journal that the piece is
not as difficult as I thought and I continue to think so. I have a
pattern where I think pieces are too difficult for me and then
when I study them they seem much easier. I feel like
Rachmaninoff's G minor Prelude is more difficult than this piece
and I was able to play that about three or four months. Thinking
about it now I want to review that piece because it was incredibly
fun to play.

I have been able to practice the 3rd movement of the Moonlight
Sonata almost every day this past week and I have increased the
speed I play the first page by quite a lot. I can almost play it
up to speed and this feels nice because the following two pages
are quite simple to play up to speed and should only take a week
or so to learn. That is, however, if I am able to practice every
day. I am almost ashamed to say this but I am feeling a little
bored already by the piece because it is not offering any
challenges past any pieces I have played by Liszt or Rachmaninoff.
It is quite nice to listen to though and that shall be my
motivation to keep practicing. I can only really practice this
piece an hour or so a day before I have the desire to practice
something else. It is good that I have Rachmaninoff's Prelude in G
minor and Scott Joplin's Elite Syncopations to review as well.
