I went to a retirement home yesterday and played most of my
ragtime pieces, including The Strenuous Life and Elite
Syncopations. The seniors seemed happy when I played those
pieces, making me glad I I chose to focus on ragtime a year
and a half ago when I started learning ragtime pieces other
than The Entertainer. I am incredibly thankful for the times I
get to perform energetic music for the seniors in addition to
the solemn pieces I play. It is nice to know there are many
types of audiences who appreciate my set list.
