Since the last time I have written in my practice log, I have finished Elite Syncopations for performance purposes, as well as The Strenuous Life. I am now starting on The Peacharine Rag and it's coming along well. A lot of the playing techniques I use in Scott Joplin's rags transfer from piece to piece so I am able to learn them quicker with every piece I finish. I have not given up on my classical piece that I am learning, the 3rd movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata, but I have not practiced it for a while. I think I will start with it in my next practice session and see if I remember the first couple of pages. Overall I am happy with the number of pieces I have learned in the amount of time I have to dedicate to the piano.

I started my piano practice today by reviewing the 3rd movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. I tried many different ways of practicing because in my opinion, my playing of it is not up to par. I only practiced half an hour of it today because I was feeling tired, but I feel like I got a good introduction of what I need to do to improve my playing of it in the future. I will make sure to get another half hour of practice of it in for the next practice session, and then finish off with some ragtime pieces. I might even move further in the Moonlight Sonata because I know I can get stuck if I practice a few early sections over and over again.

I am playing at a retirement home tomorrow so I wanted to practice my ragtime pieces instead of the 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata. I focused on The Strenuous Life, but I also played through Elite Syncopations. The fourth section of The Strenuous Life is giving me some issues in the way that it is difficult playing it accurately without "improvising" some chords in the left hand. The third section is also giving me some problems but it is not as difficult since there is less going on in the right hand. I feel confident I will be able to play it for the seniors tomorrow and they will not give me a difficult time if I "improvise" some notes and chords.

I decided to practice the 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata today. I did the same yesterday and on Sunday because the next retirement home I am playing at is this upcoming weekend. I am going to practice my ragtime pieces closer to the end of this week starting with Elite Syncopations and moving onto The Strenuous Life. I have been getting better at The Strenuous Life to the point where I am starting The Peacharine Rag and unfortunately getting a little bored of ragtime music. I think I am going to stop at The Peacharine Rag and start focusing on other music to practice in the future.

I spent today's practice session focusing on the second section of the 3rd movement of the Moonlight Sonata. It's not too difficult for me to learn because it sounds like variations of the first section however the speed to play it at is what is challenging. The right hand trills in some sections are a little tricky, including the left hand accompaniment that goes with it, but they are playable for me. Tomorrow I will spend some time on the ragtime pieces I play since I will be performing at a retirement home on Saturday.
